Vrolijk Pasen!

Overcapacity at the Gate – Camille Boullenois, Agatha Kratz, and Daniel H. Rosen for Rhodium Group: ‘The growing mismatch between fast-paced capacity expansion and slow-growing domestic demand in China will have trade impacts beyond green technology sectors too.’ ‘This sets China, the EU, and the US on a dangerous course of trade confrontation in 2024, with a high probability of trade defense action cases.’

Will Xi’s manufacturing plan be enough to rescue China’s economy? – FT: ‘“For this to work, China must expand its share of global manufacturing. ‘But there's nothing intrinsically productive or non-productive about either [property or manufacturing]. Building excess capacity in manufacturing is as unsustainable as building empty apartment buildings.
