How China tries to regain diplomatic ground in Europe with charm offensive in Germany – The Straits Times: ‘But Mr Li has probably exaggerated China’s ability to influence Germany’s current security dispute, prompted by a broader debate about the country’s place in Europe in the wake of the Ukraine war. And even if Mr Scholz’s more emollient line triumphs in Germany, the future belongs to more — rather than less — trade and political friction, as China’s electric car manufacturers threaten to beat Germany in the one economic sector where the Germans used to reign supreme.’
