De Chinese Wouden, donderdag 8 december: covidversoepelingen, EU naar WTO
De versoepelingen in China gaan nu wel heel hard. Commentaren in de staatspers feliciteren China met wat er allemaal gedaan is om dit moment te bereiken. Vraag is of veel burgers in ieder geval het afgelopen jaar als noodzakelijke opoffering zullen zien voor wat nu steeds meer neerkomt op opengaan. Ondertussen is het de vraag wat de zich inmiddels opbouwende golf aan gevallen gaat doen met het Chinese gezondheidssysteem. Vooral buiten de grote rijke steden is dat systeem zwak. De economische problemen zijn ook nog niet de deur uit: we zien zelf wat voor een nasleep het had in Europa en dan heeft Peking ook nog te maken met structurele problemen met het oude groeimodel.
Brussel zet de zaken tegen China bij de Wereldhandelsorganisatie over Litouwen en patentendwang voort. Xi is in Saudi-Arabië groots onthaald. Biden was bij de nieuwe TSMC-fabriek in Arizona. Chinezen in Duitsen kunnen straks Sinovac krijgen, wat de weg zou kunnen openen voor buitenlanders in China om straks BioNTech te krijgen.
